Review of "My Lady Jane" by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows

Rating: 5/5 inside jokes.

This book was super funny! The narrators chiming in at different parts would normally bother me, but they were so funny that I actually looked forward to their comments. I love historical fiction in general so finding this book (thank you OwlCrate once again!) and having a comedy take on history was really refreshing. Jane is such a spitfire reminding me of Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Elizabeth Bennett all rolled into one that I couldn't help but love her!

Even though Edward had his own part in Jane's story, I almost felt like you didn't need as much of it. I was nearing the point of wanting Edward's story as a separate tale. His devotion to Jane at first was really confusing when it came time to figure out who I thought was going to be Jane's partner. Reading throughout the story though I was really happy for Edward and all of the other characters and how their stories/lives intertwined. Again, the narrators commentary made this even more enjoyable!

When it comes down to whether or not I would recommend "My Lady Jane" or not, the answer is certainly yes! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a funny yet adventurous story and to anyone that is even remotely interested in the story of Lady Jane Grey (even if this is a totally twisted tale!). The cover and subject caught my attention prior to receiving this story from OwlCrate and I'm really glad that they included it in their box, guaranteeing a read from me.

~~~~~~~~~~Synopsis~~~~~~~~~~
The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help. At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane is about to become the Queen of England.
