"The story of a girl, a boy, and the universe." Natasha and Daniel's story is so eloquently written. Nicola Yoon has this way of writing these stories that deal with such serious situations, diverse characters, and the idea that even though love doesn't solve all of our problems, it sure does help us work through them to find solutions. Natasha's family is in the midst of being deported and she'll do anything to stop that from happening. Daniel is trying to come to terms with the fact that he doesn't want to be who his parents want him to be and trying to figure out what to do because of it. Neither of them are looking for love, just a way out, and yet the series of events that lead to their meeting gives them both what they need and what they didn't know they needed until they had it; each other.
I love the notion of every moment and choice leads to the next moment and choice and that every event in life is directly related to our choices. The alternating side stories and perspectives in this book all line up together and answer each other. They also lead the main characters along on the journey of the day that everything changes for each of them. This review is short but I know that if I go much more than I'll give away too much, but just know this book is fantastic and I would certainly recommend to pretty much everyone.
*Side note: If you end up reading this story and loving it, be sure to pick up Nicola Yoon's other book, "Everything, Everything", which is also fantastic and is being adapted into a movie coming out May 19, 2017!*
