Review for Flawed Series by Cecelia Ahern

Rating: 7/5 brands.

This series was pretty great in my opinion. Celestine's society is one that terrifies me because of the simple idea of perfection in any person is so absurd. Every person has flaws. Every person makes mistakes. The idea of a society that punishes and ostrasizes people because of these 'flaws' even something so honest about helping an elderly person on public transit as the case is for Celestine is unnerving. This series took me on a trip thinking and evaluating different actions that I would do daily that would have been punishable in her world. To live in a society lacking empathy and compassion is not one that I would ever want to be in.

Celestine's story was interesting from the start with it's introduction in "Flawed". What really sucked me in and got my mind buzzing though was "Perfect". This book was so gripping! The fight for what's right, the honesty, fear, and bravery it takes to stand up for what you believe in with the understanding of having the deck stacked against you in every way was so compelling. Also the learning of self love and to listen to others opinions and thought while still staying true to yourself and your world view was uplifting to read about.

There's a speech that Celestine makes (trust me, you'll know which one it is when you read it) that is so in-your-face and strong in the face of adversity. It's fantastic and made Celestine become one of the most courageous figures in my mind that I've read about in a long time and I will not soon forget her for it.

I highly recommend this series to really everyone. There's just so many themes of love, loss, pride, fear, bravery, trust, friendship, family, and right and wrong that makes this story very important in my opinion in today's world. It also serves as a good story that at least for me, reminded me that I write my own story, not society or anyone else, just me.

I'll leave off with one of my favorite quotes from "Perfect":

"There's the person you think you should be and there's the person you really are. I'm not sure who I should be, but I now know who I am. And that, I say, is the perfect place to start again."
